    My title is essentially my entire question: How do I force the Flir One camera to calibrate when I want it to (using Java in Android Studio)

    You can pull the remote control off of the instance of the camera and perform NUC (calibration). Here’s some code that does just that. Keep in mind that the remote control will be null until you are connected to the camera.

    camera.getRemoteControl().getCalibration().nuc();

    camera.getRemoteControl().getCalibration().nuc();
    this returns a command, you need to execute it too
